I got a call from my sister.
She said she had a cough that didn't seem to be a cold,
so she went to her local doctor, who told her to go to St. Mary's Hospital in Banpo to get checked out.
After taking an X-ray, they asked her to be hospitalized and have an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).
Her husband, who is the same age as me, was on a business trip in Europe, so she called her brother.
Even as a 75-year-old grandmother, my sister still calls me when she's sick.
That was a month ago.
And yesterday, I got a call from St. Mary's saying that she was "critical."
I went to the St. Mary's intensive care unit immediately and found her on a ventilator and barely conscious.
The doctor in charge of the intensive care unit said that because of her critical condition, her family members should come to the hospital to sign the end-of-life care documents...
Obituaries are sent in the name of the OO Society, △△ Association, etc.
An obituary is a notification letter that is sent to people who do not know the news due to distance after the death of a person, stating the name of the resident,
the place of death, and the time and place of burial.
The secretary of a society or association sends an obituary to all members in a group message or KakaoTalk without thinking.
Apparently, they didn't have a chance to learn that it's rude to send an obituary to a very old adult.
After receiving a call from a nurse in the hospital's emergency room saying, "My sister is in critical condition," the 78-year-old professor felt blurry and dizzy.
I almost fainted. When I checked my blood pressure, it rose to 190.
The secretary of a society or association sent an obituary message to me(who is 78-year-old fat professor), he does not realize his mistake.
It's very rude to send an obituary to an very elderly person.
Home education is one thing, but school education from a teacher of the Korean Teachers & Educational Workers' Union is more problematic.
Doesn't the school teach manners?
Samwu Memoral ceremony(third day after the funeral)
My sister's husband is a Norwegian national.
They met while working at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a United Nations specialized agency that specializes in information and communication technology (ICT),
in Geneva, Switzerland.
They said they wanted to have a Norwegian-style funeral after their death.
Under traditional Korean funeral procedures, the deceased is taken from the hospital's hospitalization room to a funeral home within the hospital
or to an outside funeral home after being pronounced dead by a doctor.
The hospital's funeral director or the insurance company's funeral director will schedule the funeral.
It is very difficult to make an appointment at the crematorium (Seoul Memorial Park, Yangjae-dong) at short notice.
Cremation is a funeral method in which the body is burned. In South Korea, cremation is available 24 hours after the time of death or stillbirth.
Usually there are three days of ceremonies: (1) the first day is to set up the mortuary and the incense burner,
and (2) the second day is to enter the building and hold the evening sangsik (ritual) or service.
Sangsik is a meal offered to the deceased.
The family is allowed to pay their respects until the night of the first and second days.
(3) The third day begins with a wake in the morning.
In a funeral, the deceased leaves the funeral home, visits the crematorium, and goes to the cemetery.
Although there are no time to mind other things during the funeral, but you must have(prepare) the park cemetery contractor's ID card,
a photo of the deceased's ID or business card, the deceased's cremation certificate, and a family relationship certificate based on the deceased.

Samwoo Festival (三虞祭)... The first day is Chow, the next day is Jaewoo(Zhoongwoo),
and the day after Jaewoo is Samwoo, so the "Samwoo Festival" is held early the next morning.
Samwooje is followed by a graveside service, or Samwooje is replaced by a graveside service.
During Samwooje, ritual food is prepared and served.
The Code of Sound Family Rituals states that ritual food "should be served naturally with simple, everyday dishes.
In Korea, the first and second nights at the funeral home are open to the family of the deceased,
and guests are allowed to eat, but Norwegian funerals are held in public, with no opportunity for friends or guests to leave condolence money and prayers at the church.
